Representative of Ingushetia in Saratov region arrested for selling official position

Representative of Ingushetia in the Saratov region Magomed Iliev has been arrested today by the October District Court of Saratov on charges of selling the post of the deputy minister of agriculture of the Penza region for 40 million rubles.

The Ministry of the Interior reported that one unnamed businessman was misled by Iliev and his accomplice about the possibility of becoming a deputy. They were caught in Saratov, during the transaction of the first part of a bribe of 15 million rubles. The fraudsters now face up to 10 years in prison.

The interim head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, instructed the permanent representative of Ingushetia, Vaha Evloev, to "as soon as possible go to Saratov and examine the situation on the ground," as well as conduct interviews with all the ambassadors of the republic in the Russian regions. "The main purpose of creating such an institution in the regions (the embassy) is additional assistance for Ingushetians living outside the republic, by further strengthening the interaction and integration with the local population," RIA Novosti quotes Yevkurov.
