Defense of Mukhtar Ablyazov, the former head of the Board of Directors of BTA Bank, announced today that the bank intends to secure his release pending extradition from France.
Bruno Rebstock, Mukhtar Ablyazov's lawyer, said that in the near future the defense will submit a request for Ablyazov's release. His extradition from France is requested by Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. "His priority is to get out to freedom, and then he would oppose the request (for extradition), which is clearly political in nature and has nothing to do with the judicial process," RIA Novosti quotes the defense lawyer.
