Karachayevsk Mayor Soltan Semenov has been charged with wasting 19.5 million rubles of budget funds, Interfax-South cites Sergey Shuvayev, senior advisor of the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee in Karachay-Cherkessia.
He has been detained. The Cherkessk City Court will receive materials on the mayor on August 9.
The funds granted for road construction were wasted by the mayor and the head of the financial department of the parliament of the Karachay-Cherkessian City District.
Shuvayev visited an investigator on August 8, but refused to testify against himself.
