Police Major Rovshan Lukmanov, head of the pre-trial detention center N1 in Makhachkala, was found dead in his house last night, Interfax reports.
Investigators believe that he was killed by two assailants, one of them using a TT pistol and one with a submachine gun.
He had 20 shots. Shells of a Makarov pistol were found, which means that the officer was probably firing back. The main theory for the murder is professional activities of the major as the cause for the assault.
