The Tverskoi Court of Moscow announced today the verdict in the case of embezzlement from the charitable organization "The Foundation of Valery Gergiev."
The court has sentenced the former director of the foundation, Igor Zotov, to 8 years in prison and an 800 thousand rubles fine, and his partner Kazbek Lakuti, to a 5-year suspended sentence on charges of embezzling 245 million rubles from the organization, Interfax reports.
According to the investigation, the cumulative damage from the actions of Zotov and Lakuti is 472 million rubles.
As previously reported by Vestnik Kavkaza, according to the investigators, Zotov and Lakuti stole 245 million rubles from the fund, transferred them to the accounts of a controlled firm and then spent them on the purchase of six apartments and six cars.
