Last Saturday, an attempt was made to enter the territory of the Russian Embassy in Yerevan, according to the press service of the local police.
"Late on Saturday night several people tried to enter the specially-protected area of the Russian embassy, they entered the fray with the employees who guard this territory, and did not obey their legitimate demands," the police statement read, according to RIA Novosti.
About an hour after the incident three civil activists - Melik Daveyan, Karen Arakelyan Gor Harutyunyan - who had been participating in a multi-day protest in front of Yerevan City Hall, located near the Russian embassy, were brought to the Yerevan central police station on suspicion of committing these illegal acts. The protesters demanded the resignation of a number of officials responsible for the transport sector. All three refused to give explanations. The motives of their act are not reported.
