Conquerors of Mount Everest from Kabardino-Balkaria, Karina Mezova and Abdul-Halim Olmezov, will light the 2014 Olympic flame on top of Mount Elbrus, the press service of the head of the republic reports.
The climbers are part of the team that will take the Olympic Flame to the highest peak of Europe. The team has one hundred people representing regional Mountaineering Federations, the spokesman said. "But it is the conquerors of the highest peak of the world, representing also the titular nations of the republic, Mezova is Kabardian, and Olmezov is Balkar, who are honoured to light the symbol of the 2014 Winter Olympics on one of the peaks of the majestic Mount Elbrus," ITAR-TASS quotes the spokesman.
