A native of Dagestan, Islambek Aliyev, has confessed to the murder of a fan of Zenit FC, Yevgeniy Dmitriev, a spokesman for the Petersburg Investigative committee said today.
"A native of Dagestan, Islambek Aliyev, has turned himself in and said that he committed the crime. Investigations conducted to date do not support this version. Nevertheless, the version is being verified," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Yevgeniy Dmitriev, known in fan circles as Maresh, died of wounds received in a fight in St. Petersburg. A case of causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death of the victim has been opened. Currently the suspect is another native of Dagestan, Marat Musayev, who is now in custody.
