JUSTICE FOR KHOJALY arrives in Or Akiva

The JUSTICE FOR KHOJALY exhibition started at the Museum of Diaspora in Tel Aviv in February 2013 has arrived in Or Akiva this month, after visiting several cities.

The majority of the city’s population consists of USSR and CIS residents, mainly Jews from the Caucasus. Or Akiva Mayor Simha Yosipov is the first mountain Jew to head a municipality in Israel.

Shaul Siman-Tov, head of the Sholumi Center for Preservation of Culture and Traditions of Mountain Jews, Yegyan Salman, head of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center of the AzIs Association, and other officials attended it opening.

Yosipov asked organizers of the exhibition to present it in two other culture centers of the city. He called the Khojaly the biggest tragedy of the Caucasus in the 20th century.

AzIs Director General Lev Spivak thanked Yosipov for opening the exhibition. It will be presented in other cities of Israel until the end of the year.
