Staff of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Georgia, representatives of diasporas and the Georgian publicity laid flowers to the Monument of Taras Shevchenko, marking the upcoming Independence Day of Ukraine, Georgia Online reports.
They attended the ceremony of raising the state flag of Ukraine at the new embassy in Vak.
The Ukrainian ambassador noted that President Victor Yanukovych was doing his best to help Ukraine follow the European path of development. He awarded winners of the Taras Shevchenko Literature Contest. The ambassador noted that 6 out of the 33 winners were Georgians, which demonstrates development of culture, language and traditions of Ukrainian people in the country.
