Ahmed Kotiyev, Secretary of the Ingush Security Council, was attacked with gunfire at Nizhniye Achaluki at about 7.40 am. He died at the scene of incident, his driver died in hospital, RIA Novosti reports.
Ingush acting Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov believes that the official was killed for helping militants adapt to peaceful life. According to Yevkurov, Kotiyev was never afraid of asking relatives of militants to encourage their surrender and return to peaceful life.
