Farman Salmanov’s memorial plaque unveiled in Tyumen

Farman Salmanov is a legendary person who determined the development of Russia and its position in the world for many decades, the governor of the Tyumen Region, Vladimir Yakushev, said at the unveiling ceremony of a memorial plaque to the legendary geologist, founder of Tyumen oil, Farman Salmanov.

Farman Salmanov is one of the main initiators of geological surveys in Western Siberia. Major oil and gas fields were discovered under his management. Moreover, he contributed to the socio-economic development of the region and Tyumen. He built sporting facilities, hospitals, schools and cultural centers which still function today.
