Georgian Patriarchy urges Muslims and Christians to calm down

Today Georgian Patriarchy urged Muslim and Christian residents of the country to calm down – it was its reaction on events over wrecking of a minaret in the village of Chela in the Aligensky region.

“Patriarchy agrees with the fair protest of Orthodox residents of Georgia, but also shares views of the Muslim population. We urge Christians and Muslims of the country to express mutual respect, to stop protests and maintain peace,” News Georgia cites the statement.

Moreover, Patriarchy suggested locating the minaret in Chela on a neutral territory.
