Gennady Zyuganov on North and South Caucasus

Russia needs an information policy aimed at respect for all traditions, customs and peoples, the Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov said today in an interview with VK while commenting on a recent trend in the Russian media to create a negative image of people from the North Caucasus. "The beauty of the world is in the many colors of cultures, languages, peoples and beliefs. Without this, there is no planet and no normal life. But for this you need a good, well-balanced policy, a good head, not police attempts to address the issues. Ethnic problems cannot be solved in this way," Zyuganov said.

The leader of the Communist Party drew attention to the fact that the media has now created a negative image of the country as a whole. "We started with a negative image of the leadership - Stalin, Lenin and then "Russia is not a kind of power", Russians are all drunkards, idlers. This is a well thought-out strategy that destroys the fabric of our being, of our life," Zyuganov said, recalling that in the past Russia has always managed to maintain peaceful inter-ethnic relations.

According to Zyuganov, the country has fairly strong influential circles, ready to play the Caucasian card and inter-ethnic relations for their own purposes. "Generally speaking, the criminal oligarchic bourgeoisie, whenever faced with difficulties, sees the solution in conflicts, military, ethnic or religious. These conflicts have been ignited all the time. Today they have reached us and are trying to set fire to the North Caucasus as well. We should not allow this. This is an absolutely criminal policy, illegal, which will harm all the people living in our country," the leader of the Communist Party warned the public.
