Stavropol Territory is in third place in the ratings of the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of Russia for use of football fields, playgrounds and other such facilities. The rating was made for the first half of 2010, RIA Novosti reports.
The press-service of the administration of the state information policy of the region reported that the total area of sports facilities is 7667 sq m. In first place is the Leningrad region with 9204 sq m., followed by Transbaikal Territory (7890 sq m).
In 2009 Stavropol Territory received subsidies of 16.9 million rubles from the federal budget for purchasing two football fields with artificial turf. One of the fields is used by the junior football school ‘Leather ball’.
The region plans to develop a sports infrastructure within the framework of the program of developing physical culture and sport for 2010-2012. In the second half of 2010 the construction of a new sports center with a universal sports hall is planned to begin in the village of Grachevka . A stadium in the town of Krasochniy in the Ipatov region will be reconstructed. Co-financing of the the facility in Grachev region amounts to 34 million rubles from the federal budget. 8.44 million rubles will be spent on purchasing an artificial pitch with equipment for the junior sports school of the Olympic football reserve in Pyatigorsk.
