Chechnya is marking the Chechen Women’s Day, set by the leader of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov in 2009.
General Yermolov burned the Dadi-Yurt Village down in September 1819, during the Caucasus War. 46 Chechen women under the leadership of Dadina Aybika were captured, but they jumped into River Terek from a ferry. A memorial for them was built in the Gudermessky District on September 18, 2009.
Chechen women demonstrated merit during the military campaigns of 1994 and 1999.
