South Ossetia is marking Republic Day for the 23rd time. The 14th session of the South Ossetian Council of People’s Deputies of the 12th calling transformed the autonomy into the South Ossetian Soviet Democratic Republic on September 20, 1990.
Gana Yanovskaya, press secretary of President Leonid Tibilov, said that celebrations started yesterday, on State Flag Day. All schools were writing essays in Ossetian. The republic will hold photographic exhibitions and a concert. The president will meet guests from Abkhazia, North Ossetia, Transdnistria and Russia.Maya Kharebova, head of the Department for Development of Mass Media, Information Technologies and PR at the State Committee for Information and Press, noted that state authorities will lay flowers at the graves of defenders of South Ossetia. Russian soldiers from the 4th military base will mark the day too. Russian singer Maksim will make performances.The BTK-4 sewing factory was launched in South Ossetia yesterday. It was opened with the help of investments of Taymuraz Baluyev, Director General of the BTK Group. Over 100 people work at the factory.
