A Syrian national has died after entering a mine field in Turkey’s southeastern province of Mardin from the Syrian side of the border, Hürriyet Daily News cites a written statement issued by the Turkish Armed Forces as saying.
Two Syrian citizens surrendered following the detonation of a mine in the field, which killed another Syrian citizen identified by them as 22-year-old Muhammed Hasan. The man died after contact with a mine in the field, the statement said.
Security forces detected three people attempting to enter the Turkish territory near the Gürsel border patrol in the early hours of Sept.30 and made calls for their surrender. Following the explosion, two of the fugitives waited for the sun to rise at around 5.40 a.m. to see the area in daylight.
