Members of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Interior Ministry closed an arms trafficking route from the North Caucasus region to Moscow, with 3 people suspected of being members of a crime group being arrested, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press-service of the department, without clarifying the date of the operation. The interregional ethnic crime group attempted to transport arms and ammunition from Makhachkala to Moscow via a bus.
Among the arms confiscated are an air pistol adjusted to fire bullets, clips for the pistol, bullets and a silencer. The pistol with the silencer was to be used for a contract murder.
The criminal case was initiated based on 2 parts of article 222 of the Russian criminal code (illegal purchase, sale, storage, transport of arms, explosives organized by a group with previous intent).
The criminals were arrested by the crime investigation department, the department of countermeasures against extremism and crime investigation of Moscow and the Moscow region.
