Prosecutors said at the North Caucasus Military District Court that Ali Taziyev, nicknamed Magas, a supporter of Doku Umarov, deserves 25 years in prison, Kommersant reports.
He was arrested in 2010 and cooperated with investigators. He denied responsibility for the crimes he was charged with, only admitting membership in a gang and carrying a pistol.
Taziyev was detained in Malgobek (Ingushetia) in June 2010 together with 13 other militants. The investigation into his case ended in October 2012. The military district court received materials of the case in May 2013. The case consists of 90 tomes, 600 victims and 400 witnesses.
Taziyev requested a closed process in early September. He said that he had poor knowledge of the Russian language and did not want wrong interpretation of his words in press. His sentence will be announced on October 15.
