The Kazakh border guards caught 11 Russian poachers in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea, RIA Novosti reports.
The poachers had 4 Bayda vessels and were spotted by a Mi-8 helicopter of the border guards. The poachers attempted to escape. The officers opened fire to persuade them to stop. The violators were identified as residents of Dagestan and the Astrakhan Region.
They were taken to Bautino (Tupkarag District, Mangistau Region) for trial. They were caught with 5,500 meters of fishing nets, 62 sturgeons, including 59 of them dead, and a dead seal.
