Kazakhstan pays compensation to killed border guards' families

Families of the border guards killed at the Arkankergen border post in Kazakhstan have each received state compensation of 3.5 million tenge (about $23 thousand), an officer of the Border Guard National Security Committee (KNB) said on Thursday.

"The families of 13 dead guards, except the family of Denis Rey, have received compensation. Rey is currently not recognized as dead," RIA Novosti reports.

The body of conscripted soldier Ray could not be identified, either by Kazakhstani specialists or the experts of foreign clinics, to where two of the bodies have been sent.

The court has granted a number of lawsuits against Chelakh, amounting to 32.8 million tenge ($218 thousand). The court has granted the petition of the military unit where Chelakh served for compensation for property damage in excess of 7.8 million tenge (about $52 thousand) that occurred during the fire at the Arkankergen outpost.
