Yevgeny Ilyin, deputy head of the office of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, said at a conference on the role of mass media and Internet in terrorism prevention, that 98% of terrorist-related crimes were happening in the North Caucasian Federal District, ITAR-TASS reports.
He noted such organizations as Al Qaeda, Imarat Kavkaz, Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami. Concerning the role of Internet, he added that there were up to 10,000 extremist websites. They promote terrorism and give instructions for attacks.
