The Russian government has approved the quota for more than 1.6 million foreign workers to come to Russia in 2014.
The quota provides for 557 thousand builders and repairers, nearly 119 thousand drivers and operators of mobile equipment, about 108 thousand employees of the engineering and metal working industries as well as more than 275 thousand unskilled workers.
The state will also give working permits to heads of institutions and experts in the fields of science, as well as engineers and agricultural workers. The Cabinet has also approved more than 357 thousand invitations to Russia.
The document was submitted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Russian Federation.
As previously reported, the Russian Ministry of Labor plans to create an inter-ministerial committee to determine the need for guest workers.
