Magomed Khiytanayev, Chairman of the Chechen Muslim Administration, said that the republic was marking the Day of Ashura, marked annually on the 10th day of Muharram, the Chechen government reports.
All cities and districts of Chechnya will hold Zikr ceremonies, Quran readings and regional Quran-reading contests for pupils. The main celebrations will take place in the Central Mosque of Grozny.
