The birth rate in Chechnya totaled 24,885 babies, compared with death of 4,977 people in the republic in the first nine months of the year, said Ramzan Digayev, head of the territorial directorate of the Federal Statistical Service in Chechnya, ITAR-TASS reports.
The death rate dropped, compared with the year before.
Chechnya has one of the highest birth rates in Russia and has the highest marriage rate, 6.5 marriages per thousand people and only one divorce per thousand people.
The population of Chechnya totals 1,339,317, according to data on September 1.
