Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has announced mourning for victims of the Boeing-737 crash on November 18. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin expressed condolences to Minnikhanov, whose son Irek died in the accident, said Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Interfax reports.
44 passengers and 6 crew members died in the Moscow-Kazan plane crash. 14 of them were Moscow residents. The Moscow government will pay their relatives at least 1 million rubles in compensation.
UK national Donna Carolina Bull is among the victims. Most people in the accident were from Tatarstan (Kazan, Naberezhniye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Almetyevsk). Some were from Kemerovo, Chelyabinsk, Volgograd, Ryazan Regions, Udmurtia and Mariy El.Russian Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova ordered the best specialists to visit the place of accident. Russian Minister for Emergencies Vladimir Puchkov is operating at the scene.
Gulnaz Minnikhanova, spokeswoman of the Tatarstan Airlines, said that there were no technical problems in the jet. It made the Kazan-Yerevan-Kazan flight on Sunday, flew to Moscow and was supposed to land in Kazan. No technical problems were registered by specialists.
Both pilots born in 1966 were skilled specialists. Crew commander Rustem Salikhov started flying the jet in 2012 as the co-pilot. In March 2012, he became the commander. He had 21 years experience. His co-pilot, Victor Gutsul, had piloting experience of 23 years.
