A demonstartion called ‘Caucasian youth against terror’ took place at the ‘Mashuk-2010’ camp on August 18th, initiated by participants in the camp, the press-service of the youth forum reports.
Youths gathered at the stage to express their support for peace, friendship and unity of the Caucasus and stand against ethnic tensions.
A terrorist attack occurred in Pyatigorsk, injuring 30 people. The organizers of the camp initiated blood donations for the victims. On August 19th at 9-00 all volunteers will be able to submit their blood at the camp, Mikhail Markelov, head of the department of the authorized presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District, said.
The action is aimed at demonstrating that people of any nationality and religion are against ethnic prejudice. Terrorism has no religion or nationality.
The head of the delegation of Stavropol Territory said she thanked the demonstrators for their support and empathy. She hopes that the action will be supported throughout the North Caucasus.
The head of the ‘Mashuk-2010’ camp, Ilya Kostunov, criticized the people responsible for the attack and said that there were Muslims among the victims.
Muslim Jabrailov, participant of the camp, said that the terrorists tried substituting notions, such as ‘Jihad’. He said that the terrorists have nothing in common with Islam. Fundamentalists can only be viewed as enemies of Islam and separatists – as enemies of Caucasia.
