The Russian-Turkish agreement signed on December 3rd 2012 in Istanbul defines the principles of order, care and arrangement of the graves of Russian and Soviet soldiers killed in the wars whose graves are located in Turkey and Turkish soldiers' graves on the territory of Russia.
According to the document, the parties are donating to each other in perpetuity the lands under military cemeteries. They will also share information about the presence, location and status of military graves and will transmit lists and personal data of deceased servicemen buried in the treaty country.
On Turkish territory there are three Russian military burial sites where more than 300 people are buried. There are five Turkish graves on Russian territory.
