President of Angola Jose Eduardo dos Santos has banned Islam in the country. Minister for Culture Rosa Cruz e Silva confirmed that the Ministry for Justice and Human rights banned Islam and ordered the closure of all mosques, abc.az reports.
Angola has 194 religious cults banned. It is the first country to ban Islam. 47% of the population of Angola are worshippers of traditional religions, 38% are Catholics, 15% are protestants. About 80,000-90,000 out of 18.5 million residents are Muslims in Angola.
Jose Eduardo dos Santos studied at the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy in 1963-1969.
