Residents of Pyatigorsk have started a petition to grant it status of the City of Military Glory, Interfax reports.
Pyatigorsk Mayor Lev Travnev approved the idea. Historians, ethnographers, officials of the city administration and council have formed the plan to collect materials for the Russian Presidential Administration.
They are collecting materials about the city’s history, starting with construction of its fortress, formation of its balneological base, Terskiye Cossacks, as well as times of war.
