Two men have been sentenced to 12 and 10 years in prison for murder and the illegal storage of weapons, Rosbalt reports.
The Savelovsky Court of Moscow found Mayrbek Umayev and Zelimkhan Karimov guilty of the murder of Ruslan Akhtakhanov, a Chechen poet and Deputy Rector of the Modern Humanitarian Academy in Moscow on November 15, 2011. The two explained that they had committed the murder over Akhtakhanov’s criticism of the Chechen government.
The case of Ruslan Khaydarkhanov, the murderer, and ‘unidentified’ figures suspected to have ordered the murder has been separated.
