Twenty-five villages in the central part of Azerbaijan and a third of the town Zardab have been flooded by torrential rain lasting from April 1 and by subterranean waters, and about 500 houses are in alert condition, News Azerbaijan reports. Flood result from rise of water level in the Kura and Turyanchay rivers and lack of drainage system.
As a result of inundation has been also flooded the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline. According to the press service of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, as a result of the Atachay river flood there has been washed away a part of the upper layer of soil along a certain sector of the oil pipeline laid under the river. Currently, the measures for eliminating the consequences of the flood are being taken.
