Moscow commemorates Heydar Aliyev

An evening dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev took place at the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow, on the eve of the tenth anniversary of the death of the national leader of Azerbaijan. People who personally knew Heydar Aliyev shared their memories of him. The Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia, Polad Bulbuloglu, talked about the relations between Heydar Aliyev and Russia in an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza. "It is well known that Heydar Aliyev was one of the leaders of the Soviet Union, Politburo member, first deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers. Our embassy together with the ITAR-TASS news agency published a book of Heydar Aliyev entitled "Part of My Soul in Russia." The ambassador said that many events in his life were associated with Russia and that he is not a stranger in the country, adding that Heydar Aliyev is "the bridge that unites Russia and Azerbaijan." The First Deputy Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers, Alasgar Tagiyev, drew attention to the fact that it was under Heydar Aliyev that the foundation of today's independence of Azerbaijan was laid.  Attending the evening, artist Nikas Safronov said that people like Heydar Aliyev are born once in a thousand years. "It's hard to believe that Heydar Aliyev is no longer with us already for so many years," the chairman of the Russian community of Azerbaijan Mikhail Zabelin said. An evening dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev took place at the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow, on the eve of the tenth anniversary of the death of the national leader of Azerbaijan.
