Criminal liability for extremism in Russia increases

Today, the State Duma adopted a government bill that enhances criminal responsibility for crimes related to extremist activities and the incitement of hatred or enmity in the first reading, RIA Novosti reports.

 

The bill proposes to increase the term in prison from three to four years and the term of forced labor from two to four years.

 

In addition, the bill enhances criminal liability for public calls to extremism, for publicly inciting hatred or enmity, particularly in the media, for the organization of and participation in prohibited extremist groups and organizations.
