Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas

Orthodox Christians are celebrating Christmas today. Russian Patriarch Kirill Served the Holy Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour yesterday. The night divine service started at 11.00 pm yesterday, RIA Novosti reports.

 
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev took part in the service. President Vladimir Putin attended the night service at the Cathedral of the Acheiropaeic Image of Christ the Saviour in the Imereti Lowlands of Sochi.


The Gift of the Magi from the Athos Monastery were brought from Greece for the first time and will be presented in Moscow until January 13 and will then be taken to St. Petersburg for Christians to see on January 14-17.
