Chechnya is marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, who was born in Mecca in the late 6th century, ITAR-TASS reports.
Holy relics of the prophet can be seen at the Heart of Chechnya Mosque at the Grozny center. Tens of thousands of followers from Chechnya and other regions of the North Caucasus will have an opportunity to see them before the noon of January 13.
Over 3,000 bags of sugar, flour and rice have been given to the poor in the Gudermessky District.
Muslims will mark the birthday of Muhammad on the night of January 12-13. His birthday is marked on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic calendar.
