Resident of Nalchik fined 300 thousand rubles for extremism

The Prosecutor's Office of Kabardino-Balkaria reported that the Nalchik city court has punished a local man calling for extremist activity on one of the social networks with a fine of 300 thousand rubles

"The court has found that in April 2013 the defendant  created an account on the social network Odnoklassniki, where he repeatedly posted statements aimed at inciting hatred and enmity, as well as the humiliation of a group of people based on religious affiliation," RIA Novosti reports, quoting the office.

These statements, according to linguistic expertise, contain derogatory characteristics, negative emotional evaluations and negative attitudes toward law enforcement officers and religious groups.

The court found the defendant guilty under Article 280 ( "Public appeals for extremist activity") of the Criminal Code and fined him 300 thousand rubles.
