Only 11% of teachers passed the qualification exam in Georgia

Only 1147 people passed the teaching exam in Georgia, the minister of education Maya Miminshvili stated.
According to her, 10,000 people sat the exam and only 11% managed to pass it. More than 50% passed at least one of the exams. Those who fulfilled all the tasks of the exam will get a higher salary and will become part of the "Teach for Georgia" program and may be sent to distant regions, where there is a lack of professional teachers, and additionally they will receive from 500 to 1000 lary more (from $900 to $1800).
The ministry says that every teacher must pass the certification before 2014.
