Archive of Vagapov’s militants reveals their foreign links

The Federal Security Service of Russia got hold of the archive of militants in an operation against Vagapov, the documents confirm foreign links with militants in the North Caucasus, RIA Novosti reports, citing the director of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov.


Bortnikov noted that the operation to neutralize Magomedali Vagapov had been going on since March this year, after the events in the Moscow subway.


Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that participants in the special operation in Dagestan killed Magomedali Vagapov, suspected in terrorist attacks in the Moscow subway, and one of the leaders of the Dagestani underground resistance. Vagapov was born in the village of Gudben in the Karabudakhkent region of Dagestan, and had been on the federal and international wanted lists for several years. The suicide bomber Maryam Sharipova, who blew up an explosive device at ‘Lubyanka’ subway station in Moscow on March 29, was his ‘Shariah wife’.
