Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk priest sacrifices life for four church-goers

Vladimir Zoporozhets, born in 1979, saved four people from an armed assailant at the cost of own life at the South Voskresensky Cathedral in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk yesterday, according to Sister Ilariona, spokeswoman of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Kuril Island Eparchy, ITAR-TASS reports.The priest heard shooting and went to the church. He tried to stop the shooter. Even after being shot in the leg, he attempted to disarm the assailant. The priest was hit in the chest and head, dying at the scene of the incident.Sister Lyudmila stayed at the place and called the Spiritual and Education Center on the territory of the church for help. She did not cover her face when the attacker shot her from a pistol.
