Georgia will adopt European-standard car plates in autumn this year. The old number plates will be legal until 2030, News Georgia reports.
Replacing the old plates with new ones will be free of charge. The top left corner will depict the Georgian flag, the bottom left will be filled by the country’s code (GE). There will be numbers between two pairs of letters on the plates.
Owners of cars from the US and Japan will be allowed to put square plates on. The Servicing Agency of the Georgian Interior Ministry plans to announce an international tender for the design of the new car plates.
