All 442 Chechen schools have been placed under round-the-clock security by police, the deputy minister of education of Chechnya Ramzan Ozdarbiyev told RIA Novosti.
There are 240,000 school students in Chechnya, and 24,000 of them are first graders.
All schools also had engineering inspections. Headquarters of the Interior Ministry have established headquarters for the period. Up to 10 policemen will guard each school. Police patrol routes were moved closer to schools.
Ozdarbiyev said that Chechnya is participating in two federal experiments – teaching of the basics of religious culture and secular ethics and the multilingual teaching of 1-4 graders. Multilingual education means students will be taught in the Russian and Chechen languages. New books will be introduced.
