The initiative to resume the department for military history at the Defense Ministry and universities to engage MSU doctoral students was proposed by the Academy of the General Staff.
The head of the Research Institute for Military History from the Military Academy of the General Staff, Ivan Basik, made this proposal today.
"This system was eliminated in the Defense Ministry. Until the mid-2000s every Academy had a department of the history of wars and military art. Currently these departments work only in the Air Force Academy in Voronezh and the Military University of the Ministry of Defense," said Basik, quoted by RIA Novosti.
The Defense Ministry, he said, is considering the involvement of doctoral students of Lomonosov Moscow State University: an agreement with the university has already been signed.
