200,000 inhabitants of North Caucasus Federal District deprived of electricity due to weather

Almost 210,000 people tonight were deprived of electricity in three subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District because of strong winds, a spokesman of the operational headquarters of emergencies reports.

"Because of the squally wind, 11 districts of the region had no electricity in more than 32 million homes, which house about 210,000 people," reports the source to RIA Novosti, adding that in all 45 localities in Chechnya, Ingushetia and Stavropol Territory were deprived of electricity.

Emergency repairs are being carried out.

According to the state administration of the Emergencies Ministry of Chechnya, in the republic the hurricane blew off the roof of a school and a dormitory, and one person was injured. More than 127,000 people were left without electricity due to fusing of three substations in Chechnya, the agency reports.
