Russia marks Day of Solidarity in Fight Against Terrorism

Russia marks on Friday the Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against
Terrorism, associated with the terrorist attack in Beslan in 2004,
when 334 people killed, 186 of whom are children, RIA Novosti
reports.


The annual three-day mourning in Beslan ends today. The start of the
academic year was postponed due to memorial activities and the town's
children will start school on September 6th.

The memorial services for the victims will start on the third day of
mourning. They will be held in school yard, which remains in ruins.
Civilians of Beslan, the authorities of North Ossetia and everyone
shares the sorrow will be at the memorial. Six years ago the
explosions happened and people started dying at 13.05, two bell
strikes will be heard, symbolizing the explosions. They will be
followed by the release of 334 white balloons, symbolizing the number
of victims.


The ceremony will continue at the cemetery of Beslan. A memorial 'The
Tree of Sorrow' has already been set up. There is also a memorial to
the special forces who gave their lives to save children. The names of
the victims will be read out.


Memorial services will also be held in Volgograd and Voronezh.


In Khabarovsk, people are being urged people to light candles and put
them in their windows at 10 p.m.. There will be a youth meeting in the
central square. Churches will have memorial services, and schools will
have a minute of silence.


Exhibitions of children's paintings and posters will be held in the
cities and villages of Karachay-Cherkessia, where people can
participate in the 'Children against terrorism' campaign.


Other cities will also hold shows of support for the citizens of Beslan.
