The National Platform of Armenia of the Eastern Partnership Forum of the Civil Society, a structure consisting of about 200 public organizations, proposed a ban on Russian channels, Espress.am reports.
Boris Navasardyan, coordinator of the structure and chairman of the Yerevan Press Club, expressed concerns about the Russia-1 and Channel One channels and their promotion of xenophobia and inter-ethnic tensions. The official pointed out a decision made by the public board regarding complaints against Russian press in response to a complaint of the commission for journalism ethics of Ukraine. The commission called Dmitry Kiselev’s Vesti Nedeli show on Russia-1 offensive and falsified.
The National Platform of Armenia considers broadcasts of the show in Armenia unconstitutional and called it a violation of international conventions.
