Georgian functionary burns flag of Slovakia by accident

Members of the Georgian government, public figures, officials of political parties and organizations have been laying flowers to the memorial commemorating victims of the 9 April 1989 crackdown, when 20 people had died on the Rustaveli Avenue at the center of Tbilisi, Interpressnews reports.A functionary, allegedly Beso Gazdeliani, deputy head of the Samgor District administration, burned a band with the flag of Slovakia laid by the country’s delegation the day before. He refused to apologize and blames the Slovak delegation for the incident.The Georgian Foreign Ministry has condemned the incident and expressed hope that the act was a mistake. The ministry thanked Slovakia for honoring victims of the tragedy.
