UNSC slams kidnappers of Jordanian ambassador to Libya

The UN Security Council has condemned kidnappers of the Jordanian Ambassador to Libya Favaz al-Itan in Tripoli and demanded Libyan authorities to protect diplomats, RIA Novosti reports.

The ambassador was kidnapped outside his residence yesterday. His driver was wounded by gunfire. The kidnappers may demand Jordanian authorities to release convicted Libyans in exchange for the diplomat.

The UNSC considers such act inexcusable and demands Libya to protect diplomats and consuls and save the ambassador.
