Head of the Russian Federal Migration Service Constantine Romodanovsky has announced today that there were about 3.7 million migrants who had exceeded their 90-day permit to stay in the country, RIA Novosti reports.
He noted that most of them were CIS citizens entering the country illegally. About 40% of them were aged 17-29 and most of them with poor knowledge of the Russian language.
Romodanovsky’s deputy Anatoly Kuznetsov said in March that there were 3 million illegal migrants. Thus, their number increased by a quarter in just a month.
